Why Nordic Risk Management

I am Lars Joergensen and Nordic Risk Management is my idea and my "baby".

I founded Nordic Risk Management in 2009 after having been a buyer of consulting services from the large consulting companies in Denmark and Sweden for a number of years

For a long time, I had tried to understand and assess what it was I and my company (Codan) actually bought and if we really got value for money. Once it really struck me when I had a conversation with a big four supplier of services, that this big four supplier always in their own opinion would able to deliver what was requested. When looking back, a huge project with a huge project organization with many consultant was always the answer. Many of the consultants were junior consultants without professional insight into the matter at hand.

When I asked the responsible partner from the supplier what they would do if they had to bid for a project in an area where they were not subject matter experts, I got a very striking answer: "we read a book" and by planning a big project and by involving junior resources we get the average hourly rate that the customer has to pay down. But of course implicitly, the total price of the project would be much higher when including junior experts with no subject matter expertise.

This conversation really sowed the seed in my mind that this was not the right way to do consulting and that would be a better and more honest way forward. This is to provide the subject matter expert, charge the price for the subject matter expert and make sure projects are not populated with red tape.

Thus Nordic Risk Management want to provide the subject matter expert to projects within the area of our expertise and to say no to projects in which we are not the experts.

Nordic Risk Management is a subject matter expert in insurance regulatory compliance, risk management and internal control. The mantra of always seeking to excell has been the guiding light during Nordic Risk Management’s more the 12 years of history and will remain so in the future as well.
